The class of ’10 are arriving at full throttle! We are seeing yields of as much as 204 pounds per acre greater than DP555BR, you know that variety we planted from fence row to fence row. These varieties are yielding well and the grades we have back so far the quality is better than we have had in the past, especially uniformity.

What you need to know about managing cotton due to delayed plantings or replanting much later than normal. See the latest possible cutout dates for weather stations in several cotton-production areas.

We have 09R643, 09R555, and 09R999 on our farm in three different locations. They are all “rocked up” and looking great. Early season drought stress had our cotton stunted and way behind through the middle of july. Since then, we have caught some timely rains and all three varieties have really packed on the fruit maintained excellent retention.

I looked at several production fields of the “Class of 10” candidates last week. The early season vigors of all the varieties really impresses me. The 09R615 B2R2 looks really good. The square retention is great. This variety seems to start fruiting early. Lot’s of squares on node 5.
09R999 B2R2 also looks really good. I especially like the plant type on this variety. 09R999 B2R2 is bushing out earlier than most other varieties. I look forward to continuing to look at these varieties throughout the growing season. |
